mr. dr. Dersim Yabasun specialises in immigration- and asylum law. Before becoming an attorney, Dersim worked as a lecturer and postdoctoral researcher in European migration law at Maastricht University. He obtained his PhD on the topic of vulnerable asylum seekers in the common European asylum policy. He also conducted research for the European Parliament and published several articles in legal journals. He studied law at Maastricht University and later at the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC) in Venice. Dersim speaks English, German and Turkish.

Dersim is member of the Dutch Bar Association. He has registered immigration law, asylum and refugee law as his practice areas at the Dutch Bar Association. Due to this registration, he is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Dutch Bar Association.
